Uttoran - 1st Edition

MAitRI started with a simple vision to bring together people from the Bengali community and celebrate the cultural diversity that we are blessed to be part of.

Since living outside one’s home country is often driven by ambition and the pursuit of comfort and luxury, life can feel isolated at times. Having been residing abroad for more than a decade, I tend to get nostalgic when I think of home, and one such nostalgia is the time before

Pujo; the waiting and the preparations mattered. Puja Barshiki or annual Pujo Magazines used to play an integral part. With bated breath and utmost eagerness, as a child I used to wait for my Anondomela while the adults engaged in a predictable conversation about the content of Desh, Anondolok, etc. My main thoughts used to be about how the cover would look; it was sure to have a reference to the Goddess, but what amused me was to trick my prediction into thinking I had a better idea of the cover page than what was about to come, but I am glad to say, I was pleasantly surprised every single time.

Keeping all those thoughts in mind, we are launching উত্তরণ (Uttaran), so that we can rediscover home being away from home.
